The African Karate Federation (UFAK) celebrated its General Assembly and Executive Committee meetings to analyse the situation of the sport in the continent and to discuss the future of Karate in the region.

As Karate continues its development in Africa, the General Assembly and Executive Committee of the African Karate Federation stated their intention of further extending the progress of the sport in the continent through innovative actions and through improving the level of excellence of their events.

No less than 22 countries participated at the meeting which was held in Tangier (Morocco) on the eve of the 2020 UFAK Senior & Junior Championships. The General Assembly approved the financial report of the organisation, as the hosts of the new editions of the continental championships were also decided. The top tournament in Africa next year will be held in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) from August 9 to 16, 2021, with the 2022 championships tentatively going to Bamako (Mali).

The UFAK plenary session also took time to honour the memory of former UFAK Treasurer General and WKF Executive Committee member Dieudonné Okombi who passed away in March 2019.
