A year full of KARATE

The new year will bring plenty of excitement and 12 months full of anticipated Karate events.
The revamped Karate 1-Premier League, the increasingly popular Karate 1-Series A and Karate 1-Youth League, the always thrilling continental championships, and Karate’s impactful presence in multi-sport events, together with the age-group World Championships will be among the highlights of the year. 2024 will conclude with the historic first edition of the World Team Championships, which are set to open a new era for the sport.
Karate fans will not have to wait long to witness the first major event of the sport. From January 12 to 14, the opening Karate 1-Series A event of the year will be held in Athens (Greece). The massive series of events will then travel to Larnaca (Cyprus) from February 16 to 18, and Salzburg (Austria) from September 13 to 15.
The month of January will conclude with the first Karate 1-Premier League of the season. Karate recovers one of its flagship venues as the first Karate 1-Premier League will take place in Paris (France) from January 26 to 28. Karate’s first-class events in 2024 will be held in Antalya (Turkiye) from March 15 to 17, Cairo (Egypt) from April 19 to 21, and Casablanca (Morocco) from May 31 to June 2.
The round of continental championships will begin in February with the EKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships to be held in Tbilisi (Georgia) from February 9 to 11. The OKF will decide its champions at the OKF Championships to be held in Sydney (Australia) from April 26 to 27 while the EKF Senior Championships will travel to Zadar (Croatia) from May 8 to 12. Also in May, the PKF Senior Championships will take place in Punta del Este (Uruguay) from May 23 to 26, with the PKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships going to Sao Paulo (Brazil) from August 22 to 25. This event will co-live with the AKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in Manila (Philippines) from August 23 to 25. Asia’s Senior Championships is scheduled for September 20 to 22 in Hangzou (China).
Karate’s most massive events, the Karate 1-Youth League will kick off in Fujairah (UAE) from February 22 to 25. Then, young karatekas will have the chance to test their abilities at the events in A Coruna (Spain) from May 16 to 19, Porec (Croatia) from 27 to 30, where the WKF Youth Camp will be held as usual a week earlier, then Cancun (Mexico) from August 8 to 11, and Venice (Italy) from December 5 to 8.
The best promising karatekas will meet in Venice (Italy) also for the World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships to be held from October 9 to 13. With the Karate 1-Youth League in Venice growing and growing each year, the 2024 World Underage Championships are expected to be a true celebration of the strength of Karate at young ages.
The big highlight of the year will be the World Team Championships to take place in Pamplona (Spain) from November 22 to 24. The first edition of the World Team Championships will inaugurate a new era for Karate and will be a showcase of the popularity and global reach of Karate.
The African Games to be held in Accra (Ghana) from March 7 to 9, the Mediterranean Championships in Olbia (Italy) from September 20 to 22, and the Commonwealth Championships in Dhaka (Bangladesh) from September 27 to 29 complete the list of events in the WKF calendar.
