50th EKF Senior Championships in Istanbul

The registration of athletes for the 50th EKF Senior Championships in Istanbul (Turkey) has now closed and the names of the participants are disclosed.

The registration of athletes for the 50th EKF Senior Championships in Istanbul (Turkey) has now closed and the names of the participants are disclosed.

 

From Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd of March, around 495 athletes from at least 47 nations will compete to become the new European Karate Champions of one of the 16 existing categories.

The European champions will fight to retain their title, as Serap Ozcelik (Turkey), Sara Cardin (Italy), Bottaro Viviana (Italy), Georgios Tzanos (Greece), Jonathan Horne (Germany), Sheroziya Inga (Russia),Clavien Fanny (Switzerland), Erkan Enes (Turkey). This year we have the return of Rafael Aghayev (Azerbaijan), who was injured last year.

 

The best competitors will qualify for the 1st European Games.

The European Games is a multi-sport event for athletes from all over Europe and is held every four years. The Games are owned, organised and regulated by the European Olympic Committees. In 2015, Baku will be the proud Host City of the 1st European Games. Competition take place from June 12 to 28. 

 

The finals will be broadcast live in 50 countries (Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Djibouti, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Tunisia, France, Andorra, Monaco, Mauritius, Madagascar and French overseas territories, Canada, Venezuela, Spain, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) and for other countries, the final will be available on Youtube live streaming.

 

One day before the 50th EKF Senior Championships, EKF Congress was held in HQ hotel conference room. A part of the conference was directed to present the first European Games in Baku (June 2015).
