The SEA Games is the most prestigious multi sports event in the South East Asia (SEA) region. 

Karate has been one of the feature sports for more than 20 years now. In the 27^th edition of the Games, karate took place in Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, Nay Pyi Taw, from 12^th -15^thDecember 2013.

There are 8 out of the 11 SEA countries participating in the Karate event namely, Myanmar, Lao, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and Philippine. 

The WKF President, Mr Antonio Espinos, and the AKF President, Mr Chang Kuang-Huei were present to grace the event. In addition, the Chief Referee of the event is Mr Raphael Ortega, WKF RC Member.
