The 2024 Mediterranean Karate Championships will take place from September 20 to 22 in Olbia, Italy. This prestigious event will gather over 400 of the best karate athletes from 18 Mediterranean countries, competing across Cadet, Junior, and Senior divisions. The tournament will also feature a beach competition, adding a unique twist to the traditional format.
This event serves as a significant platform for athletes in the region to showcase their skills on the international stage. Italy’s strong tradition in karate is well-known, and this year’s Mediterranean Championships marks another major event hosted by the nation. The powerhouse nation of the sport welcomes one of the most popular karate events for young athletes—the Karate 1-Youth League in Venice. The city of canals will also host the highly anticipated 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships later this year, further solidifying Italy’s role as a central hub for the sport.
The last edition of the Mediterranean Championships, held in Tunis, Tunisia, saw over 400 athletes from 17 countries competing. The host nation dominated the medal table, finishing with an impressive 51 medals, including 16 golds. Tunisia’s triumph was followed by Algeria, which claimed 12 golds, and Egypt, with five gold medals to its name.
