The city of Santiago (Chile) hosts the 2023 Pan American Games. Karate will be once again included in the sports programme of the biggest multi-sports event in the Americas.

The Karate competition is slated for November 3 to 5. Held at the Parque Deportivo Estadio Nacional, the Karate tournament is expected to cause a sensation at the Pan American Games as in previous editions of the event.

A total of 106 athletes will take part in the Karate tournament of the Pan American Games. The United States topped the medal table of Karate event in the last edition of the Pan American Games which were held in 2019 in Lima, after claiming a total of seven medals including four golds. Powerhouse nations of the Dominican Republic and Venezuela followed in the medal table.

Karate stars such as Antonio Diaz of Venezuela, Sakura Kokumai of the United States, Brian Irr of the United States, Thomas Scott of the United States, and Alexandra Grande of Peru were among the gold medallists of the 2019 Pan American Games.
