WORLD KARATE FEDERATION

The Norwegian Martial Arts Federation celebrated their bi-annual congress in Bergen, Norway,on the 6th and 7th of this month. Attending the congress was Ms. Tove Paule, President of the Norwegian Olympic Committee, and Mr. Gunnar Nordahl from WKF. Ms. Paule expressed her satisfaction with the success of the Norwegian martial Arts Federation in heading development programs befitting other sports in Norway, particularly through the leadership of their General Secretary, Mr. Trond Sovik.

The Martial Arts Federation is now surpassed only by two other Norwegian sports federations, Football and Handball, in public funding of activity.

Mr. Trond Berg was re-elected as President of the Norwegian Martial Arts Fedartion for another period. Chairman for Karate, Mr. Kjell Sivertsen and Vice Chairman for Karate, Mr. Odd Arne Hagen, were also both unanimously reelected for another two year period.
